EXPRESS ENTRY

Immigrate to Canada through the Express Entry Program

What is Express Entry?

The Express Entry program is a selection system for skilled foreign workers with foreign experience who want to secure a permanent residency permit in Canada, and take part in the Canadian economy. The program is also a framework that manages applications from different applicants for permanent residence under the below-mentioned Canada's three primary economic immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The program was introduced in the year 2015 by the  Citizenship Immigration Canada (CIC) as an innovative and transparent electronic process to select the skilled and more qualified immigrant through the point-based system—the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

To select the prospective candidates, an online form (profile) is required to be filled out, enabling them to join in the Express Entry pool. A score will then be given to each candidate to determine their rankings within the pool.

About the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) works as a parameter to evaluate and score the candidate's profile and rank it in the Express Entry pool. After the calculation process, the CRS will determine whether the candidate is eligible to migrate or not. This is based on the calculation of the candidate's Canada PR Points—which also depends on the candidate's following qualifications:

  • Skill level

  • Educational background

  • Language ability to speak in English and/or French

  • Professional work experience

  • And other factors.

However, there are ways of increasing your chance of meeting the cut-off points and getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for a Canadian Permanent Residence Visa if the candidate has any of the following:

  • Multiple degrees/diplomas/certificates gained from attending a college or university in Canada.

  • Accumulated high score from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

  • Secured an authentic offer of employment from a Canadian employer.

  • An official document attesting a nomination from any Canadian territory or province.

  • And other factors.

Take note that the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a benchmark for the Express Entry eligibility. The higher the candidate's accumulated points, the higher of chances of getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
